dLocal Receives Enhanced PSP Licence From Bank of Ghana
dLocal has secured an Enhanced Payment Service Provider licence from the Bank of Ghana, formally authorising the company to operate direct payment infrastructure including mobile-money and merchant payment rails in the country. The licence expands formal cross-border payment corridors available to Ghanaian merchants and fintechs seeking to connect to dLocal's global network.
dLocal Ghana: the licence race is now the real competition
The more interesting number here isn't dLocal's — it's the list of companies that already beat it to the Enhanced PSP licence: Flutterwave, Paystack, Fincra.
Direct access to MTN MoMo and local bank accounts matters, but dLocal is now competing on infrastructure that its rivals have already had time to build businesses around.
For Ghanaian merchants choosing a payments partner, that's quietly good news. When well-funded globals have to race each other on local service rather than just on the strength of their international brand, the terms tend to improve for the people actually using the product.
