Complete Farmer secures $2.4m IFC convertible loan and $480k advisory support
Ghana's Complete Farmer has secured a $2.4 million convertible loan from the International Finance Corporation, alongside $480,000 in advisory support aimed at scaling farmer financing. The deal adds institutional debt capital to the agritech startup on the same day Five35 Ventures disclosed its exit from the company.
Complete Farmer: the IFC bet is on the data, not the dirt
The $2.4 million from the IFC isn't really a farming loan — it's a bet that Complete Farmer's years of on-the-ground data can unlock something banks have never managed: reliable credit for smallholder farmers.
That's the specific mechanism here. Complete Farmer uses farm-level data to help financial institutions actually understand individual farmers as borrowers. The IFC money funds inputs and agronomy services; the $480k advisory package builds out the systems behind that credit model. Together, they're meant to reach 240,000 farmers by 2030.
On the same day Five35 Ventures exited at 3.5x, this lands as a second signal: the company isn't just proving it can raise — it's proving it can attract institutional debt at scale. That's a different kind of validation, and arguably the harder one to fake.
