Ghana SOE Debt Overhang Reaches GH¢282 Billion, Threatening Economic Stability
Economist Dr Atuahene has warned that Ghana's state-owned enterprises carry a GH¢282 billion debt overhang that poses a risk to the country's broader economic stability. The warning comes alongside separate calls from Dr Atuahene to shed non-strategic SOEs, and separate academic criticism of contradictory figures in the SIGA report that recorded the first SOE profit in four years.
