Ghana to train 100,000 TVET facilitators in AI via UNESCO, KPMG, Microsoft partnership
Ghana TVET Service has partnered with UNESCO, KPMG, and Microsoft to train 100,000 TVET facilitators in artificial intelligence. The programme extends the government's earlier effort to align TVET delivery with industry needs, adding concrete scale targets and named global partners to the initiative.
TVET AI: training the teachers is the right bet — if the tools actually arrive
100,000 facilitators is a serious number. Train the people who train Ghana's artisans, mechanics and technicians, and you're not just adding a module — you're rewiring how an entire tier of the workforce understands the technology.
The uncomfortable question is the one the agreement doesn't answer: Microsoft provides the digital infrastructure, but Ghana's TVET institutions are notoriously under-resourced. A facilitator who completes the training and returns to a classroom with unreliable power and no working devices is a wasted investment.
The partnership's value will be decided less by the signing ceremony and more by what gets deployed in the selected institutions — and whether that deployment survives past the pilot phase.
